I got extremely lucky a few months back and met a really great glass blower locally who i now have started leanring from, I'm basically a shop bitch, I go and help them out and in exchange earn time at the bench. In the past 2 months I've already made everything from cups to a small vase to a paperweight, which amazingly he's allowed me to take home. It's really pretty awesome and I've never been so addicted to something so quickly. I did lampwork for about a year before this, but it doesn't even begin to compare to learning to actually blowglass. Has anyone else just started out blowing glass?? I'd love to hear other's expierences.

Re: hello new here also
Wed, January 11, 2006 - 4:17 PMI started blowing glass last year, when I got back from Iraq. Unfortunately, I am living in Afghanistan now, or I would be doing some glass work. i hope to return to the bay area for classes. I made some cups, a bottle, and shit like that. The guy I worked with, Jerry Catania, was in the first group of students that built Pilchuck with the one eyed bandit.
