Is it possible to crush various types of glass that I would typically toss into the recycling bin, then use it to make glass beads or pendants in my kiln?

Re: Recycle Glass
Fri, April 20, 2007 - 2:27 PMI don't know about soft glass, but with pyrex all the flaws/stresses from shattered glass and various colors cause it to bubble and look pretty ugly. The only use I've found is letting people who are learning use it to make marbles so they can see how the colors change the viscosity of the glass and the color temperature.

Sat, April 21, 2007 - 7:03 PMAs long as you are keeping like glass with like glass you could come out with decent results. Float glass (old window glass, not the tempered kind) can be an affordable way to try your hand at glass too. You wont know unless you try and at least you wont be out much except a learning experience.

Re: Recycle Glass
Sun, April 22, 2007 - 8:24 AMThanks for the tips. I have been using glass made for fusing, but some of it can be expensive. I will play around with some recycled glass and see what kind of results I get.
